In November 2003, the non-profit association Kulturbrücke Hamburg e. V. (Bridge of Culture Hamburg) founded by Mrs. Hourvash Pourkian and her team. Kulturbrücke deals with the realization of intercultural projects in Hamburg.
The aims are to break down existing prejudices against migrants and to give children and young people more support in the field of education, and to provide an opportunity for dialogue with one another. Kulturbrücke's diverse projects are aimed at enabling intercultural exchange and communication between families of different origins. Creating tolerance and understanding for others.
Hourvash Pourkian was born in Tehran and came to Hamburg with her parents and siblings in 1975.
"In 2002 I was appointed to the Integration Advisory Board of the Hamburg Senate. My work there inspired me to found the Kulturbrücke Hamburg eV association to build bridges between the people of Hamburg and the immigrants."
Anneli-Kathrein Westphal has been working as a lawyer since 1985. She has been a specialist lawyer for family law since 1996. Born in Hamburg, she now lives on a farm in Lower Saxony, surrounded by nature and numerous animals.
She has been a member of the board since 2011 and has been committed to promoting the implementation of the Switch Kids projects.
